Bringing together musicians from countries that include Greece, Jordan and Armenia!! Focusing on original compositions, soaring improvisations & new interpretations of the traditional music of Greece & the Levant, Aegea Ensemble brings forth a sound that holds you between ancient and new .

Dimitris”Jimmy” Mahlis
Los Angeles based oudist, guitarist and composer Dimitris
“Jimmy” Mahlis has become known in musical circles as an eclectic interpreter of many musical traditions. Having a
thorough knowledge of both eastern and western musical
theory, he has developed a playing style on several
instruments which is both earthy yet intricate. As a
composer, his pieces have set a standard in cross-cultural
pollination. He has toured extensively nationally and
internationally and his playing can be heard on several
recordings and film soundtracks.
T.J. Troy-Multi Percussionist
Grammy® Award-winning artist T.J. Troy combines an eclectic knowledge of percussion from around the world with his innate musicality to create a distinct and powerful voice in the world of contemporary percussion. A prolific force in the studio or the concert hall, T.J. has established himself as one of the most multifaceted and sought after percussion artists in Los Angeles music circles. He has received global recognition for his virtuosic performances on traditional Arabic percussion instruments and has performed with such artists as Mamak Khadem, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Sahba Motallebi, Emil Richards, and Cirque du Soleil.
Vik Momjian, Bass
is an accomplished four, five, and six string, fretted and fretless electric bass guitar player. While his musical roots started on the piano at age nine, Vik turned to the guitar at age fourteen and ultimately discovered his true voice through the electric bass at age fifteen. Over the last 25 years, Vik has established himself as a first-call musician for many top Middle Eastern and ethno-European artists. When he’s not touring the world with these artists, he spends his days in town doing sessions, teaching, and playing with his original projects Excursion, Anasa, String Harmonies and his soulful playing not only brings enormous heart to these projects, but it is an integral part of their sound and energy.
Hasan Minawi
is an accomplished multi instrumentalist from the country of Jordan. Born in Iraq , Hasan studied music at the prestigious institute of fine arts and musical sciences in Baghdad, before moving to Jordan in 1999, where he received a degree in Musical Sciences at Jordanian Music Academy. He taught, composed, performed and directed musical ensembles at Institute Of Fine Arts / Ministry of Culture, The Jordanian Music Academy, the University of Jordan. His skills on violin, ney, mizmar, mejwiz and many other Arabic instruments are sought after the world over.
Jamie Papish
Over the past 20 years, Jamie Papish has made a name for himself in the Los Angeles World Music Scene as a passionate percussionist of ethnic hand drum styles of the Middle East, Iran, North Africa, Eastern Europe, India & the Balkans. He maintains an active performance and recording schedule as an original member of the critically acclaimed Yuval Ron Ensemble, The Chloe Pourmorady Ensemble as well as numerous other Los Angeles based world music ensembles. Jamie percussion is on Floodplain by The Kronos Quartet and over 100 tracks of released music.
